Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson

Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson was a huge personality, poet and public debater. He had an opinion about most things in his time and was active in many countries.

Bjørnson was engaged in important political and society issues and left his mark in many countries in a variety of areas. Only a few Norwegians have had as much international influence as Bjørnson.

Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson became the great cultural personality of the literary, cultural and political life of the time. No issue was too small or too large.  

The Nobel Laureate

The Swedish Academy decided to award the Nobel Prize for Literature to Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson on 19 November 1903. 

The Family

Bjørnson had six children and eleven grandchildren, and Aulestad became a gathering place for children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
