Christmas market at Aulestad 2026
5 and 6 December 2026
Saturday and Sunday 11 am–4 pm
At Aulestad’s Christmas market, you can enjoy a traditional Christmas atmosphere. Join a guided tour of the festively decorated writer’s home, take part in children’s activities and browse tempting market stalls.
Market stalls
Many of the exhibitors are from Gausdal Husflidslag and offer handmade arts and crafts. There are also several other exhibitors selling food and a variety of Christmas goods.
Guided tours and exhibitions
The historic home of Karoline and Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson is decorated for Christmas. Join a guided tour to see and hear how the Bjørnson family celebrated Christmas.
Children’s activities
- Step inside the writer’s home and hear the story of the Christmas elf at Aulestad. We recommend buying tickets in advance.
- Horse riding. Tickets can be purchased in Drengestua. Places are subject to availability.
- Children can also enjoy other Christmas activities, such as writing a wish list for Santa in the barn and whittling by the fire.
Tickets and a more detailed programme will be available closer to the Christmas market.
Café
The Drengestua café and the kiosk in Folkestua are open, serving delicious homemade food.
