Summer at Aulestad

The museum take all precautions for a safe visit for all our gusts. Due to the Covid-19 situation the home of Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson is unfortunately closed this summer.

The daily program will be reduced this year and Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson’s  home will, due to Covid-19 safety precautions, not be open for visitors. As a result the museum’s ticket fees will be reduced this year. The museum is still worth a visit!

New exhibition in the barn

"A mighty rumble" is a new and colorful exhibition on Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson’s life and writing. It is to be visited in the barn at Aulestad and holds many treasures such as awards, jewelry, bridal shoes, bridal veil, travel bag, hat box, top hat and a night cap. Even a real Nobel Prize medal!

Hosts in the courtyard

Meet our knowledgeable hosts in the courtyard, they gladly tell about the author’s life.

From the porch you can enjoy the view and take a peek through the windows at Bjørnson’s home.

Inside the wagon shed you can see Bjørnson’s beautiful wagons, amongst other the wagon that was lent to king Haakon on his coronation process in 1906.

The cafeteria is closed

This summer we keep the cafeteria closed. Feel free to bring your own lunch for a picnic in the museum area.

Tickets can be bought in Drengestua inside the museum area at Aulestad.
